Tuesday (06/05/2014) – Read 1 John 2:15-17; Genesis 3:1-6
The love
for the world first presented itself at the Garden of Eden, to Eve, when she
ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and since then it has
been presented to each one of us.
What did Eve say she and Adam were forbidden to
do?
What the serpent say to entice Eve to eat the fruit from the tree?
Look carefully at verse 6. Is there anything there
that would correspond to the lust of the flesh?
And to the lust of the eyes?
And to the boastful pride of life?
Application:
1-
Because they accepted the love of the world into their lives Adam and Eve hid
themselves from God, were afraid (Gen. 3:8,10), lost the glory surrounding them
(they realized they were naked), were cursed with suffering, pain, death, were
expelled from the Eden (Gen. 3:7,16-19,23), and they entered in enmity against
God (Gen. 2:16,16; 3:11). Evaluate your life and see if you are not allowing
the love of the world to enter it. Pray about it.
Note:
another word for lust would be concupiscence (or an uncontrollable desire,
almost like an addiction).
