John 2:15-17
Now that we understand better what the love for the
world is and what are its parts, let's focus now on its consequences and other
ways to fight it.
Complete: According to verse 15, who loves the
world...
This means he/she doesn't love God and doesn't express
God's love to other people.
Complete: Verse 17 says the world and its desire...
This means that the love of the world is temporary and
destructive. Its pleasure is addicting and temporary and it brings decay and
self-destruction.
Verse 17 says that if we do what we will live forever?
This means that whoever loves the world doesn't do
God's will.
Application:
1- To win over the world with its desires for the
flesh we must seek the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
(Gal. 5:22,23);
2- To win over the lust of the eyes we must seek to
live a SIMPLE LIFE (that's not poverty, but a life not bound to material
things) and GENEROSITY.
3- To win
over pride of life we need to live a life of SERVICE (expressing God's love to
God and other people).
