John 2:15-17; Luke 4:1-12
Satan tried to use the same scheme he used to deceive
Eve to cause Jesus to fall for the love of the world. But different from Eve,
Jesus was victorious in that he didn't sin. His victory can be ours.
How the devil's questions do relate to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life?
The devil tempted Jesus on what Jesus had control
over: His power. How did Jesus fight the lust of the flesh? What tool did He
use?
The devil intended to give the idea the world was his
and not God's. If Jesus accepted the power and glory offered by the devil He
would be subjected to him. What was Jesus' attitude when tempted with the lust
of the eyes?
The devil wanted a public exhibition of power done by
Jesus as a faster way for Him to be recognized as the Messiah. What was Jesus'
answer to the boastful pride of life?
Application:
1- Use the Word of God, studying it, meditating on it,
memorizing it as to win over the desire of the flesh;
2- Worship God, recognizing who He is as to win over
the desire of the eyes;
3- Live
by faith and not by magic (trying to manipulate God), so that you can win over
the pride of life.
