Saturday – Conclusion of the Devotional
This week we learned about baptism. We
saw that John was preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of
sins, this being a public display of the changes that were going to take place
in someone’s life. For this to happen it was necessary confession of sins,
repentance, and forgiveness of sins for one to enter into the kingdom of
heaven.
Again we saw that God fulfill his
prophecies and that he supplied a Lamb to be sacrificed in our place, so we can
be wholly forgiven. This Lamb of God was fully tuned to God’s will, keeping all
the aspects of the Law, including baptism, thus receiving the word of
affirmation by the Father and Holy Spirit.
We see in
Jesus and John’s lives the aspects of humility and obedience by submitting to
God’s will and recognizing their position in God’s plan. May we apply these
same patterns of humbleness and obedience to our lives, with repentance
(meaning a change of thinking) always ahead of us, so that we can be found in
one accord with God’s plan for our lives. God Bless you!
